The Art of Classroom Inquiry

Chapter 5:

Three things that stuck with me:

1.  I love how the author likened the usual practice of literature review to "...an activity that takes us out of the classroom and into dusty, dry tomes in subterranean chambers of libraries..." (134).

This was an apt analogy since it is precisely what I think of when forced to review current journal research.

2.  The discussion of distant teachers was almost comical,  "...imagine a dinner party for twelve where we can invite anyone we want, living or dead" (135).

The catch being that these twelve esteemed colleagues would be discussing my own research.

3.  "The ERIC database is an enormously helpful resource for education researchers" (139).

I would have to agree with this assertion.  Having used it before during my teacher certification, I've found literally thousands of articles that are available to research.

My question is, will this really be "a creative and enjoyable enterprise"  (134)?
